Walk With Me, Miller Creek Hiking Trail!
Today was all sorts of adventure with lots of neat discoveries! This tiny baby to start with!
It was so small I didn't really think it deserves the title "Danger Noodle" just yet. So he shall be "Snek".
More bewildering and slightly frightening was this massive caterpillar!
This monster was longer than my longest finger! It was in the middle of the road, so we found a piece of bark and escorted it to the shrubberies. I hope it finds what it needs without being squashed!
A sweet, wild Raspberry peeking through the leaves! My favorite late summer activity is finding these little gems. Fresh off the plant they are so delicious!
A whole tree of delicious looking apples in the park! Unfortunately those left over were either already rotting on the ground or way, way too high for me to reach.
We had a storm come through on Friday night that produced some flash flooding and 90 mph winds. The creek is still rushing a bit from the after affect!
There were a lot of these black berries around, but I don't know what they are so, best not to pick them.
Everyone went for a swim.
A sure fire cure for cranky and bored children and dogs? Add water, apply liberally. Presto, happy children!!
They explored and found minnows and snails.
And Ella and Inari searched the sand for Mollusks. Better luck next time!
We left this location sooner than we'd wanted. I looked down stream and there was a naked old man! I saw a full bare ass people. Not pleasant. Not pleasant at all.
So, moving on!
I'm not sure what these are, but there are massive amounts of them all over West Duluth. If they're edible someone could have themselves a feast!
Kind of looks like the smile of a freindly Earth Spirit. 💙💙💙
Several trees were filled with teeny tiny choke cherries!
We spent well over an hour climbing all over rocks and playing in the water here! Best feature, no naked old men!
Though the Water Falls kind of speak for themselves. So beautiful!
Hiro jumped into some water much deeper and faster than he anticipated and started to get swept away. I had to grab him by the scruff of his neck to haul him out of there. Dopey boy stayed right by my side after that. No more water diving shenanigans for the day, he stuck to the shallows!
Many waters. Much fast.
Inari soaked from head-to-toe, overseeing his sisters in the creek below.
Hiro had just about enough, he was starting to get worn down! He's napping now but will need a good grooming before bed, all sorts of things are stuck in that thick coat of his!
And finally, a picture of my shame.
There was so much trash out there today, but I could not do a #litterwalk because I'd neglected to bring bags with me. There were tarps and a sleeping bag, food containers, packaging all up and down the trail.
We have resolved to go again very soon to rectify the issue.
That was our day! Love to you all, I hope your day was glorious as well!
Beautiful walk Hickory, our children calm right down too as soon as they get into the water. You may want to look it up, but I believe those black berries are Huckleberries.
