Drinking water from the toilet

It was my first day in Germany. I was waiting for my house master to collect my room keys. I have been waiting for more than 2 hours when I found someone to inquire about the housemaster.

He looked like an Indian (I was not really sure about guessing seeing faces, but later I found that he was from Tamil Nadu). I asked him about the house master and he gave me some directions. At the end of the conversation I asked where I could get some water to drink. With a plain face he pointed me to the toilet and said I could drink water from the tap.

I was shocked, more than that disappointed with his answer. Disheartened I walked towards the toilet, just not to offend him.

I did not drink water. But the toilet was extremely clean, but how could I drink water from the toilet?

Much later i realized that tap water is really safe to drink, be it from the toilet or from the kitchen. It’s all the same purified water.

Now at my gym, I fill my bottle from the toilet. McFit do not have water dispensers. I hate that though.
