The inferno

I wanted to write this morning. The emotions were surging in me. Writing under such situation would always lead me into writing 'spoil'. Sometimes the most empathetic and intelligent thing one can say is nothing.
.
It hurts me more that this may be the usual cycle like it has always been.
.
It hurts me that yesterday's situation painted the Nigerian situation; "selfishness".
People were burnt to death as a result of the disobedience of tanker drivers and the negligence of various governmental agencies. Yet, bus drivers were charging people 1000 naira to transport people to certain places that would have cost 150 on a normal day. Whereas, if we still had hearts, nothing was bad in transporting people for free at that moment and area. It's all about GREED. Everything na government hand e dey.
.
I remember it was after a vehicle killed a UNIBEN student on that Lagos road in front of the school's gate some years ago and the student union protested that it dawned on the school management to have created multiple speed breaks on the road in order to enable safe crossing of the students. Were they waiting for the federal government?
.
This government has more than failed all of us. And we have failed ourselves as well. Things are more terrible than we think they are. They've been worse, these killings and preventable deaths are just showing us some of the loop-holes of this society.
.
Will this be the usual suffering-and-smiling situation?
.
Will this be a cycle?
.
Will this be the usual blame game or are all going to look into the mirror?
.
Will this be the usual resignation to fate, proclaiming a tainted "It is well"?
.
Will this be the usual #prayforNigeria when God is telling us to start doing?
.
To start enduring temporal discomfort for longer peace by obeying traffic and stop cutting corners in other ramifications of civility?
.
To start being selfless in our own little ways from our families, churches, mosques down to our work environment?
.
To start being more nationally loyal than trying to score political points?
.
To start... The list goes on.
.
May God grant the bereaved strength, whose own have been gulped down by the greed of the government and the people. I don't know how they feel right now. But I sure know it is unbearable.
.
Don't pray for Nigeria. No other country has prayed like we have. I know prayers have kept us thus far and somewhat held us despite the complexities of the Nigerian system, but is time to;
.
Do for Nigeria.
.
Be selfless for Nigeria.

Humanity is about serving the least of your community, that is about you being godly. You feel good doing just little to help, be human and you will gain healing serving as a therapy to the sick, less privilege, deprived and dejected.
