RAGS part 2
(Somewhere in Lagos)
[NOTES]
My name is Adetunji Moyosore Christina. I own a diary but not like the conventional diary, this one is secure and by that I mean well hidden. Oh! I am 16 years old. Life as a teenager in Nigeria especially Lagos is hard particularly when you are not so rich. To me, the middle class does not exist, it’s just a mirage created by the rich to show dominance and created by the better poor to feel elevated. You see in this country, there are only two people-the rich and the poor with a great chasm in between. I’m grateful for being better and I hope to help all the others in worse state than I am. That’s why I’ve decided to be a lawyer. I currently attend a community Secondary school. I am the first born in a family of 4. My parents, me and my sister, Teni. I love my family so much. We are closely knit and try to look out for one another. My father works in one of the Lagos state ministries while my mother works as a secondary school teacher and owns a shop after school. We are a Christian family from the south western part of Nigeria. I am a proud indigene of Ondo state.
My best friend is Betty. We share so many interests. I grew up listening to blues and in a place like Lagos, it’s not every day you get to see someone with the same interest in music and so when I met Betty we clicked. I remember the day we met vividly, we were having our inter-house sport and Lizzy was our social prefect in junior school. Lizzy is a very versatile girl who listens to a lot of music and thus she had no problem playing the street music which was quickly accepted by the crowd while Betty and I felt like fish out of water and from there we hit it on. We’ve been friends now for over two years and now the talk around town is how her father has decided to leave his job of being a carpenter for being a politician.
