There is no question that virtual reality is another pseudo-innovative foolishness that gaming is forced to endure after the motion control and 3D image. Instead of raising the pace and offering exclusions at the level of those of the PS3, Sony relies on VR and even predicts that the technology will create new game genres.
After the launch of The London Heist for the PlayStation VR in 2016, Sony's London studio is working on the long-awaited Blood & Truth shooter. But its leading designer believes that even bigger VR progress is on the horizon. Speaking at the Develop: Brighton conference, Michael Hammond offers forecasts for the next 5, 10 and 25 years, saying VR will soon become more compelling and then ubiquitous.
Over the next five years, Hammond expects several events, and above all, that a new genre will be born that will only be possible in VR.

Many VR titles today are game ports that are not VRs, but Hammond suggests that new games should be designed from the start for VR. He advises developers to begin to understand why they chose VR as a carrier and then differentiates their experiences using VR presence, surrounds sound, distinctive management methods, and head tracking.

Part of the five-year process will include the creation of consistent and customized interfaces for VR games. Hammed expects to create a permanent programming language for VR, and developers will learn how to use customization - including controller and motion options - to reduce the unpleasant sensation while driving and improve the experience for sensitive players. As a result, VR will get truly exclusive games and applications over the next five years and become more popular in both the mobile and medical sectors.

Until 10 years, Hammond expects that haptic feedback will be part of the VR experience and will change the way we get, as consumers will be able to sense objects to the level of textures. This will make the VR experience even deeper and allow new "new genres of VR games" to emerge. Then, 25 years later, he expects that "VR should be as comprehensive as smartphones are today."
