Voting Percentage and Recharge Rate
Some of you may be wondering how the current voting system works when it comes to the recharge rate of voting power
In Hard Fork 0.19.0, voting changed from 40 votes at 100% per day to 10 votes before your voting power is greatly affected. Each 100% vote after, it greatly decreases your voting power. When you are at 100% voting power and doing 10 votes at 100%, it will bring your voting power down to roughly 81.66% or so. Ideally, you want to try and keep your voting power above 80-90% to have your vote weight have a stronger impact on rewards when voting on content.
Currently, you are able to adjust your voting percentage with a vote slider but your account requires over 500 STEEM POWER in order to use it on Steemit. When adjusting your voting percentage, you are capable of having more votes per day before greatly reducing your voting power.
Below shows an example of how many votes can be done with adjusted voting percentage before being greatly reduced.
Below shows the rate at which the voting power takes to recharge.
So say your voting power is down to 80%, it will take 24 hrs to recharge to 100%. Some of you may ask why you would adjust your voting percentage. By doing so, you could increase your curation rewards and spread the rewards given out.
When it comes to your vote power and rewards, you can check out the official Steemit blog that explains linear rewards.

If you see someone that voted with low precentage like on steemd, there's no need to fuss about it. There are many different reasons why someone is voting at a certain percentage. Just appreciate that you even have a vote and just...
Steem on 😉
Thank you to those that upvote my posts. You know who you are and I appreciate it very much.
Big thanks to @inertia for helping me with some of the information.

The voting system is a fascinating and extremely intelligent solution to a problem. The recharge rate is something that took me a while to 'click' with but the fact that it happens gradually is incredibly important. Originally I just figured that at a set time each day, it would simply jump up by 20% ;)
Yea, at first it may seem it works a certain way but this is how it actually works at the moment.
Thanks for the explanation. Now I know why my posts attract much fewer votes after HF19. I suppose there is a trade off for everything. To reduce from 40 votes to 10 votes is rather drastic in my opinion.
Hehe yes, that's what happened to your votes. It was necessary to reduce the number of votes in because of linear rewards. Everyone's voting power was increased by 4x and that would have a huge effect on the reward pool.
Yeap. I suppose we can't have our cake and also eat it.
Thanks, I am new to all this. I made an account a year ago but never used steem.. :(
Been active here a week now. I am just now getting my bearings... This post has helped me alot thank you.
Great! I'm glad it helped. There's a tough learning curve when it comes to Steem but using it after some time, you'll get the hang of it.
This post makes me want to get 500 steem power just to see the slider.
It's great :)
thanks for the info! I have a question for you if you have time... Can someone really succeed (get views) without putting any money in steem...
Sure. If you bring value of some form to the platform then yes. There are a few on here that have found some degree of success without investing in STEEM. If the content is really great and others share it on and off the platform then it has the potential to get views. It does make it easier to find success when you do invest though.
Thanks for the reply 😊
Thanks @bitcoinparadise..nobody states that too clearly usually
Thank a lot. That is really helpful for me.
I'm glad it helped :)
Thank you for the clarification :)
