Vote for witnesses?
You guessed it, I am new to this.
Going through a few posts and looking through the menu bars, there is a "vote for witnesses". Can someone please explain this and the use of the concept.

While this description is a little rough, the easiest way to think of witnesses, without going into too much detail, is that they are both the miners and the governing body of Steem/Steemit.
