Kelimutu Volcano

One of the most unusual places in the world is the volcano Kelimutu, which is located near the town of Moni in Central Flores island in Indonesia. Kelimutu volcano has three craters, which were formed lakes. But the unique feature of the kelimutu volcano is that these lakes constantly changing colour.

These unusual changes are the result of a chemical reaction between different minerals and gas, which is released when the volcano's activity.

Locals believe that miracles occur due to the fact that the volcano Kelimutu is a sacred place inhabited by the souls of the dead.

Each of the lakes of volcano Kelimutu has its own name. For example, the name of the Central lakes local language is translated as the Lake of boys and girls. Most often it is the lake has a bright turquoise or greenish color. Name East lake translates as the enchanted lake. These two lakes are separated by common walls of the crater. The most Western of the three lakes is called the lake of old people or Lake for the souls of the elderly and wise man.

Kelimutu lake is not very predictable, so to say with certainty when and what color they will be impossible. Sometimes, colors: blue, red and black, in other cases they turn into white, red and blue. So, what color combination will be next time we can only speculate.
