RE: In The Pocket Of My Jeans Are Coins And A Broken Dream
Being a soldier is great in peace times. Not sure, if it is a smart idea to become a soldier in Nigeria.
Being a soldier is great in peace times. Not sure, if it is a smart idea to become a soldier in Nigeria.
What are your reasons?
Mainly Boko Haram, but also the ever-looming independence movement in Biafra, the Islamic/Christian rift in the middle of the country, the ethnic diversity and also the unsustainable population growth are risks that I believe will become relevant in Nigeria in the near to middle future. As soldier you would be standing at the front lines of those frictions.
Unless you can manage to get a military career far away from the possible front lines (logistics, science, education, maintenance), your career might turn into a huge life risk.
On the plus side of course, when you manage to stay away from any front action but get all the military education, you'd have plenty of promising career options in the civilian sector, e.g. by protecting the oil installations.
You have said well but what happens if everybody decides not to join the military?
I don't know, maybe no more war? Ok, that is naive...
While I do understand your argument as relevant, I think when individual rationality stands against collective rationality, you should always pick the individual rationality if possible. The other way around, you only risk being exploited by those who decided themselves for their own good rather than the collective one.
It's a problem without general solution, but only partial one, so take the one that is the most beneficial to you.
I appreciate you for the time and i want to assure that i get you and i respect your opinion but you know sometimes when we want something we dont usually think of the disadvantages
Well, it's your life and you have to make your own experiences. I'm sure, you will find your way.
It is a broken dream. I m just looking up to a better future
