Vision of the prophet Isaiah: But Israel does not know, my people do not understand. Isaiah 1:3

in #vision2 days ago

The First Book of Isaiah describes the oracles written by the prophet against the decline of the kingdoms of Judah and Israel, and the historical events surrounding the Assyrian invasion of Judah and the subsequent siege of Jerusalem by the tyrant Sennacherib. Isaiah's work is one of the most important books of the Old Testament and many of his prophecies were cited by Jesus in the gospels; the influence of Isaiah is so great that even one of his texts, the so-called Apocalypse of Isaiah, is an immediate antecedent of the Book of Revelation of the New Testament.
Isaiah's preaching began during the last years of the Kingdom of Israel and he probably witnessed its destruction, although he was primarily a prophet of Judah. This is why Isaiah began his book by highlighting his vision of Judah's problems, and so with his wisdom, he described how, due to the hardness of their hearts, the inhabitants of Judah had lost their relationship with God: "The ox knows its master, the donkey its owner's manger, but Israel does not know, my people do not understand" Isaiah 1:3. With this spiritual teaching the prophet Isaiah highlighted how the hardness of the hearts is contrary to the common sense, and this could be verified in the historical reality, Judah, through the fear of God of Hezekiah, triumphed over Sennacherib, but in the long run Judah's confidence in military alliances and politics caused the kingdom to fall in the face of the invasion of the Babylonian Empire.
The texts of Isaiah are a reminder of the importance of trusting in the Lord in the face of a God who manifests and makes himself evident to man with signs, wonders, and miracles; because the cosmis and universal laws created by God are present in the life of man and no one can escape their effects: "If you are willing to obey, you will eat the best food that the land has to offer. However, if you refuse and rebel, the sword will devour you" Isaiah 1:19-20.
