How to arange trending page (suggestion)
How I see it, there are only three (3) ways to get to the trending page right now.
Stories about the quality post have been proven 100% are not working. There are exceptions but rarely.
This post is driven only by the desire to help Steemit platform to be fairer than it is now and to have a more user friendly interface.
You can end up on the trending page ;
A) If you pay bots, and not only one, you must pay at least a few of them
B) you are a big whale or big whale support you
C) you are part of the community like #ADSactly or similar
A) BOTS
I have nothing against paying the bots, I know that many are discussing this issue and that opinions are different. Maybe this proposal (suggestion) of mine will solve this problem. I sure hope so.
Suggestion
It is actually nothing revolutionary, as it is solved on google, under the paid posts should be written (paid post, add or something like that), maybe it should be labeled in a different color so people would know that the post arrived on trending page thanks to bots.
B) THE BIG WHALE VOTE
No one can forbid nor do I think it should be forbidden to big whales to vote, of course, but it still not suggest that the certain post is quality one just because big whale voted for him.
Suggestion
Here we should have some criteria and it should be expressed in money.
For example, if a post gets a vote worth more than 10 US,(it can now be more or less depending on the limit we agree on) should be also written (Whale vote, dolphin vote etc), and it should also be labeled in a different color.
C) COMMUNITY VOTE
It is a fact that many communities have curators and they filter quality post by themselves, but there are some that have trails voting for them without checking the quality.
Suggestion
The same thing like in A) and B) situation it should be labeled and written community vote.
Final thought
I hope that experience of reading and spending time at Steemit would be much more enjoyable if we use this labels and that the trending page will be what the once was- A place for good and quality posts!

Yeah I have long given up to get any of my content on the trending page. I don't see myself ever paying hundreds of dollars to bots. Getting a whale upvote is kinda like winning the lottery, maybe it'll happen once, but I don't expect it.

I do write for Adsactly, but I don't get the credits for the post, adsactly does (as it should be. I get author credit). When I am writing for myself I am strictly on my own. I do get an occasional vote from adsactly but so does everybody else that writes good content there.

The trending page is a bit of a minefield, and I've seen much better posts struggle to find any traction on here. It's a shame, but I am still trying to use it and hope this site will improve over time with the help of users like you :) Thanks

Are you sure that is really so? If it is, something is wrong with us, or with system. As author, I have always considered the quality of content as dominant variable of my work. That used to be the most important criterion while choosing what to publish (apart from my paid work, that depends on employer). Do you really mean that it does not matter to much? That's sad: instead of merit, do we really have to use system of managing whales and paying bots?

What I like about Steemit is its decentralisation. It can be built on and extended by anyone with the ability to do so. There is a new bot, @transparencybot, that puts a little comment on posts that have benefited from paid bidbot upvotes.
It's quite easy to find out whether a post has benefited from bidbot votes, even without Transparency Bot. Just click on the number of votes, or check the comments, as bidbots generally leave a comment. Or check the author's activity at steemd.com/@authorname or steemdb.com/@authorname.
Votes are listed in order of value under the number-of-votes link on the post, so it's easy to find out whether a whale has voted. The value of whale votes encourages people to invest in the platform, which should ultimately be good for all Steemians, as it incentivises the value of STEEM.
Autovoting is the thing I like least, as I like my upvotes to mean something - a tiny encouragement for people to produce quality, and I think this generally works on Steemit. There is a lot of good quality work (and a lot of dross too). I don't autovote, as I don't want to risk upvoting an opinion or a piece of work that I really dislike. But maybe that's just me being a control freak.
In general, I see Steemit as a game - a game I like to play, as the way it's been set up means that there is little incentive to troll, and people are generally polite and friendly. There is a certain amount of luck involved, and you can improve your situation by using your wits - eg, founding your own curation trail. That's what I love about it. It's fun. It's not a platform with lots of rules and regulations. As Steemians, it's up to us to work out how to improve the platform.
Having said all that, I do think the Trending page should be based on number of votes received rather than value.

It seems that if there is a problem, the Steemit community eventually comes up with a solution!
