If in cinema Marvel has created an entire cinematographic universe based on comic book superheroes, in video games different studios are being given the respective licenses to adapt some of the most important names. The latest announcement is Wakanda, inspired by the realm of Black Panther, for the Electronic Arts catalogue.

In direct partnership with Marvel Games, EA formed a new studio to dedicate itself to this production, Cliffhanger Games. This team is headquartered in Seattle and is led by Kevin Stephens, former head of Monolith Productions. The studio is made up of many veterans who have worked on games like Middle-Earth: Shadow of Mordor, Halo Infinite, God of War, and others.

Not much information has been revealed for this game and even the Wakanda name may not be final. In the statement, the studio lead said the goal was to allow players to feel what the mantle of Black Panther means, with a heavy focus on storytelling .

It also highlights that Wakanda is a sandbox enriched with superheroes, with its mission to create an epic world for players who love the Black Panther and want to explore this world. Fans can expect all the technology of this advanced world present in the game, its heroes and characters, but with an original narrative, respecting the details and authenticity that Marvel created in the movies . There is still no release date or platforms that will receive this game.

Wakanda thus joins a range of new games inspired by the universe of Marvel characters. Another Electronic Arts studio, Motive Studio, is producing a new title based on Iron Man , led by Olivier Proulx, who served as senior producer on Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy at Eidos Montreal for Square Enix.
Outside EA, there are more publishers who are also creating their Marvel stories, such as Skydance New Media which is developing another Black Panther and Captain America adventure, in a World War II environment , with the hand of the renowned writer Amy Hening (Uncharted). Not only is Insomniac Games finishing up Marvel's Spiderman 2 , it also has a new title based on Wolverine in its hands.
