How does Steemit works.

There are a lot of people that dont understand how steemit works. People do search for it but are unable to understand because of the difficult terms that are used. So i thought i should explain it for you guys and make it very simple.
As you all know, any social site for example facebook earns money when we all use it.

In other words, in return of our contribution facebook earns all the profit.

Steemit does not work like that. In steemit the earning are sent to the people that have their contribution in making this site a popular one.
So we can say we earn for our contribution to the wellfare of the site.
