Vimm University: Branding Identity
In the previous article, we spoke about a popular buzzword; branding. It’s been overused by marketers, designers, artist, and content creators. The illustration below represents the dichotomy between these subjects.
CONTEXT
The relationship you establish with your viewers extends beyond your stream. Curiosity and self-fulfillment lead them to follow you on other platforms because they want to see and feel more bits of your brand.
Ask yourself
If the person decides to visit your social media, would they capture the same feeling they did while encountering your stream? In other words, are they going to experience consistency throughout your brand?
Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, has different forms of expressions to show off our brand.
IDENTITY AS YOUR FRONT-FACING ELEMENTS
Every platform presents you with front facing elements like a profile picture, header, and about me section.
EXAMPLE
I created this basic example of a stream that shows consistency with his established identity, during the live broadcast.
“The viewer decided to go on your social media page”
The viewer notices consistency in the elements they encountered on your stream.
“Consistency breeds familiarity. When the viewer watches your broadcast and is able to take bits of what he saw, heard, and experienced (we can call it interaction), it breeds familiarity and perception of wholeness within your brand, making them remember who you are and what you provided them with.”
“Identity is the collection of all brand elements that the company creates to portray the right image of itself to the consumer.”
FRONT-FACING
-Color Shades
-Form/Shape
-Round Shapes
-Straight Lines
-Edgy Graphics
-Logo
-Call to action
-Sub-Heading Phrases
-Slogan
You don’t need Photoshop to create stuff anymore, I would recommend using Canva.com
They have great templates specifically for each platform and specifics uses like headers, posts, etc. My best advice is to create a small design system with your favorite colors, typeface, and shapes like the one below. (For inspirations I would suggest dribbble.com or behance.net)
Best approach is the autonomous approach.
Creating rule guides and templates will save you time when you’re ready to go live, post content, etc. It will steer you away from inconsistencies.
Hope this gave you a new refresh and a simplified approach to take action to building your brand and giving your audience a better perception of who you are!
