Nam Khau, a typical food of Tay and Nung ethnic groups is among the most popular and loved food of Tay and Nung ethnic groups. The star ingredient is pork, which is turned into an irresistible dish with soft and rice, taste of taro, wood ear mushroom. This dish can be served with rice, steamed glutinous rice, gat gu (a steamed rice rolls)
Tay and Nung ethic groups are also well known for their vermicelli from edible canna- Na Ri vermicelli. The edible cannas are grown on Ang Tong Mountain Pass at the height of above 1,000m are used to make this handmade vermicelli. Visitors will fall in love with this natural, preservative and chemical free product because it is also suitable to make different dishes.
Smoked sausages, seasoned smoke cattle meat, Ba Be sour shrimp and grilled fish, peng pha (a special sweet dish made by glutinous rice, liquor, tea, sugar and used in important events), bamboo shoots, bo khai vegetable and banh gio. In spite of their simple names, their tastes will surely bring a party of taste and flavour to your mouth.
