My Thoughts On Thor Ragnarok
So I just got back from the theater where I saw Thor Ragnarok, and I have to say it's hands down the best Thor movie, no competition. In fact, I think it might be the funniest Marvel movie yet, even funnier than The Guardians of the Galaxy. Though this depends on the viewer's sense of humor.
Honestly, this movie feels more like a Guardians sequel starring Thor, than a sequel to Thor the Dark World. It has a strong charismatic cast that nails their parts perfectly. Each character has strong screen presence, which can be really hard, with Chris Hemsworth's triceps taking more screen time than anything else.
This movie's greatest accomplishment is that it finally escalates Thor's character past the "dude with the big hammer." Instead of this movie being about Thor proving himself worthy of the throne again, it's about him trying to save his people. It's that simplicity that leaves so much space for humor, which it takes full advantage of without taking away from the plot.
The main downside of this movie is that it has two different plot lines that feel like different movies all together. On one end you have Hela, who is committing genocide and causing "hella" damage to Asgard. Whereas, on the other end, you have Thor who acts like he is in a comedy. These two plots don't really mix as well when, in one scene you have an army being wiped from existence, followed by a humorous scene between Thor and the Hulk. This doesn't ruin the movie, though; it is still really enjoyable.
One of the coolest things about this movie is that they didn't spoil anything in the trailer. There are scenes that I remember from the trailer that were changed in the final cut of the film for spoiler's sake, which was a great choice on their part.
My biggest pet-peeve with this movie is that they missed a great opportunity to play "Thunder Struck" by AC-DC rather than Led Zeppelin's "Immigrant song." Though this may be due to the fact that "Back in Black" by AC-DC is kinda the theme to Iron Man. I want you to keep this in mind when you see the movie.

I can't believe you went to see it without us! I already bought our tickets! It sounds awesome! I am glad you loved it! I am looking forward to seeing it!
Just got back from seeing it, and thoroughly enjoyed it too. Lots of kiwi input (and humour) which we love, of course. But I have to disagree with you on The Immigrant Song. I thought it was perfect for those two scenes.
Great review! I haven’t seen it yet but now you’ve made me want to go. Thanks!
