Timelapse of a Montana Sunrise - Missouri River Breaks National Monument

The Upper Missouri River Breaks National Monument is a spectacular stretch of landscape in Central Montana, comprising nearly 500,000 acres.

The area is rich in history, Lewis and Clark spent several weeks exploring the area, and little has changed since they passed through.

The Breaks were recently the subject of intense debate, after the Department of the Interior initiated a review of its status as a national monument. Thankfully, it will retain its protected status for the immediate future.

This area is one of my favorite places in the world, and pictures can't do it justice. There is an incredible sense of place, when you stand on the land here. A great way to see it is by water, it's an easy float that can span a few days, or a few weeks.

I shot this time-lapse last October, mornings like this are the norm for this stretch of the Missouri.

Spectacular time lapse. Beautiful place too.

Absolutely epic.

Beautiful and peaceful, thank you for sharing!

How good are sunrises?! I love starting my day like this; It kind of sets the tone for the rest of the day. It kind of centers me I guess. (For lack of a better way to describe it). I’m going to RS this for you. Keep it coming.
