Caribbean Game Developers Expand
Coded Arts Ltd, a company started within The University of Trinidad and Tobago's (UTT) Business Incubator (uSTART), was selected to attend the sixth annual Association of Latin America Export Services (ALES) seminar in Santiago, Chile. ALES, an organisation whose goal is to promote Latin America as a global service platform, hosts activities such as this annual seminar aimed at promoting a better positioning of the region in the International Service Market. ALES accomplishes this through leveraging country competitiveness and its attractiveness as an investment destination.
Coded Arts Ltd was selected nationally out of several companies because of their achievements and the recommendation of UTT’s Business Incubator (uSTART). Coded Arts acknowledged The Trinidad and Tobago Coalition of Service Industries for the selection and the Caribbean Export Agency for covering the expense of the trip.
Coded Arts achieved their objective at this conference of connecting with Latin America and other Caribbean based animation and game development studios. They also connected with ESports organisations throughout both regions in order to develop a larger network.
The Coded Arts team was awarded the Best App Game Concept 2015 from Animae Caribe (the Premiere Caribbean Animation and Digital Media Festival) and its director, Mr. Andy Berahazar Jr. was the winner of UTT's 10th Anniversary ICT award for "Outstanding Student in Diploma in Animation Studies."
Coded Arts will also be the first Game Development Company in the Caribbean to release an Industry Standard (AAA) rating game. The team is also working on other projects which involve Virtual Reality (VR) and other innovative software programmes.
Coded Arts wish to thank UTT for developing a business incubator that allowed them, as a group of students from the animation and software engineering departments, to be supported to form this limited liability company in December 2015. The company initially started with four (4) founders and has now grown to eleven (11). The Coded Arts team noted that they benefitted greatly from the workspace, 24hr/7days a week access and one on one mentoring by the uSTART managerial and support team. They also received product development support, subject matter mentorship from the uSTART network of industry experts, valuable IP, export, market data and finance workshops to name a few. Coded Arts expects to achieve its goals of growing from the startup phase to a large, successful Caribbean organisation. They would also like to showcase UTT’s unique ability to academically equip its students and to support them to become successful entrepreneurs.
