Veterans Appreciation Cookout at Bay Pines VA Hospital
The American Legion Riders from Post 104 in Pinellas Park Florida along with other motorcycle clubs put on a barbeque for the veterans at Bay Pines VA Hospital. A lot of these veterans have no relatives and don't get many visitors, so we went out and spent time with them and served them a BBQ. We cooked 15 - 10 lb Pork Butts, 50 lbs of Chicken plus all of the side dishes Potato Salad, Cole Slaw, Baked Beans, etc.
This picture is prepping the food and getting ready to head out to the hospital.
These are the designated cooks for the day.
We took the cookers with us and set up under the trees near the Domiciliary.
Prepping the serving table. Most of the vets were ambulatory but some were brought out by the nurses in their wheelchairs.
A few of the bikes of the people that showed up to help.
Some of the groups that showed up to help. This really was a collaborative effort from a lot of clubs and riders for a great cause.
And finally back to the post for a well deserved beer. Many Thanks to all of the people that showed up and to Sam's Club for selling us the meat at cost.
