Hahaha!! You couldn't pay me enough to go under water, so hats (covers?) off to you!
My first division was S-3/Sales, 60 people strong, and the passage of time mercifully dimmed my memories of what it was like trying to keep up with (and ahead of) them all. I had a few truly stellar sailors, and an even bigger number of total miscreants. Going through all those old emails made me go "yep, I did the right thing getting out" lol.
From a Submariner perspective, it always blows my mind to hear of a Division with 60 people in it. Our last Supply Division had 3 people including their Chief. I feel bad for whoever has to herd 60 cats.
Conversely, it blows my mind to think of a whole department that tiny! :) I feel bad for myself when I look back at my S-3 days, haha. But if you want to feel bad for anybody it ought to be for the food service officer on a carrier, herding a couple hundred feral cats😂 What did you do on subs?
That sounds like a nightmare. Seriously, I don't know how carrier people do it. Just that scale of people is insane to me. I'd imagine they could go though an entire patrols worth of food for a Sub in a day or two. I'm still in. MT is my rate.
