How to read a fractional inch based vernier caliper without writing in paper (Shortcut Method)?
Solving the fractional inch based unit in the vernier caliper is so easy when writing in any piece of paper. But it is also easy to read it orally and takes little practice to master. And how?

Here's our reading in the imperial scale.
Main scale: 1 15/16 ''
Vernier scale: 5/128 ''
Now solve orally:
First ignore the main scale's whole number, which is 1.
Next rewrite the main scale: 15/128 (Because the Least Common Denominator or LCD is 128).
Multiply 15 by 8 and answer is 120 (Multiplied by 8 because LCD divided by 16 equals 8).
Next Multiply 5 by 1 and answer is 5 (Multiplied by 1 because LCD divided by 128 equals 1).
Lastly, add the two numerators (120 + 5 = 125), include the whole number in the main scale (1) and our FINAL ANSWER is 1 125/128 ''.
