PornHub Now Accepts Verge... Well, glad I 'pulled-out' of that one! Lol
PornHub Now Accepting XVG
So, Verge seems to have kept their promise. Today they announced that PornHub, a household name, would be accepting Verge.
Previously Verge had stated the partnership was with a major e-commerce business and they would be rolling out a huge marketing campaign. Unfortuneately if they do, it will be for porn related business. I really do not see this partnership affecting the value of Verge much. If anything, the price is going to drop because of the hype pump that it incurred.

Outside of cheesy ads and innuendos, what does PornHub offer a cryptocurrency? Not much I would wager. We can already get a peek at the advertising here:
PornHub is a massive company. But, it just doesn't live up to the hype the Verge team was putting out. Let's face it, porn is an industry that doesn't exactly have the best public image and how this affects Verge in the long run is yet to be seen
I 'pulled out' (lol pun definitely intended) from Verge about a week ago due to FUD which was just, in my opinion. Now, I'm glad I did. This "partnership" doesn't live up to the hype at all. I put partnership in quotes because it's less of a partnership and more of a "this website now accepts Verge". A partnership to me suggests that two or more parties are working together for a common purpose or to acheive a stated goal.
Note: The partnership is actually with MindGeek, not PornHub alone. Mindgeek runs tons of porn wesbites including PornHub, RedTube, YouPorn, Brazzers, and many more. It is a large partnership, indeed. But, the industry kind of taints the name of Verge for future partnerships, imo.

Good analysis. I work in marketing/content marketing, and any other brand now knows that by accepting Verge, they will be compared to a porn company. I believe this does hurt their brand, not help it. And why did they need to raise millions of dollars through "donations" to make this happen?
My guess is that they paid for the partnership. Which I would call a bad investment. I'm sure they could've bought into other business sectors for that amount of money. Supposedly a small amount of that is paying for a Ledger integration too.
MindGeek is an absolutely huge business. So I mean, it could turn out to be a valuable partnership for Verge. But, I just am not sure how I feel about betting on the porn industry. :P
Agreed. It's an industry that is becoming easier to tap into for free. It's still crazy profitable, but will that stay the same?
I'm sure it will seeing how marriage and divorce rates are these days. :P I just don't know how that would translate to crypto though. Will customers switch to crypto to keep their info a bit more anonymous? That's the real question that will determine how much of an impact a partnership like this will have on Verge really. And will it hinder other companies interest in Verge in the future?
