What did I study for? The young professionals frustration in Venezuela.

A few days ago one of my nieces placed a post on her Facebook account asking this question. She, a young professional Venezuelan woman, graduated from a career to which she bet to improve her future and that of the country, because she wants to be useful to society.

In the few years that she has been a professional, she has gone to many job interviews but the harsh reality of our country is that the few vacancies are granted to those who have the so-called "social or family levers", or if they are sympathizers of the same political party, however they do not have a good preparation. She has had to accept positions in small businesses that do not provide a salary according to his needs.

The only way out for these young professionals is to pack their bags and leave the country, some to work as informal sellers, in stores, doing cleaning work, taking care of children, and more jobs of the working class without special title.

In Venezuela, being a doctor, lawyer or engineer was synonymous with comfort and money, but today we realize that there are many professionals working as taxi drivers or doing any informal work, struggling between emigrating or staying, with a very dark outlook. Well, although in other countries will play the same role of "labor" minimum wages reach to lead a more stable life than in this country.

Others have had to abandon their university studies and flee from a country where there is no stability or opportunity, where it is impossible to save some money and, therefore, it is difficult to plan a good future because the galloping inflation has decimated the salary of the Venezuelan.

The tragic irony is that Venezuela, a resource-rich country that used to receive immigrants, now suffers massive emigration, Venezuelans leave their country to establish a new residence, a work camp and perhaps family abroad, because they can not have a house. own housing and even have a vehicle.

My daughter, an architecture student, tells me: "My friends do not live in my country, they all left", she is also preparing her bags before she gets depressed.

Unfortunately Venezuela is being affected by the flight of talent, a process of migration of professionals that threatens the development of our country, since those who trained here, apply their knowledge elsewhere, choosing to lose Venezuela so as not to lose what remains of youth.
