Would you like to know about Venezuela, in first person?

I can tell you, from the point of view of an ordinary citizen, of generation "X", how life has evolved in that country until today, and as a living testimony of the drastic changes in life influenced by politics, the culture and the social component.

I remember that since I was a child I already noticed that there were substantial differences between people, both in behavior and race, the country was very diverse, but by then, back in the 70's, somehow everyone was in their place, there was modesty and respect, and for a person today, the adults of that time were extremely naive and were not cautious, they had a light life despite the normal vicissitudes that always exist in life.

It was the time of the so-called democracy - known as the Fourth Republic -. The greatest international influence that existed and that kept the country firm was that of the United States, with some primitive nuances typical of the local subculture.

As time passed, the glorious decade of the 80s arrived, and despite very poor public and political management, the North American influence brought with it some civilized life and the country continued to grow, in the big cities a virtual copy of North American culture, but with a terrible internal, ideological, that as I matured I knew it was the opprobrious thinking of the left, and that I also knew that Venezuela was no exception in this regard.

By then, although Venezuelans had a defined identity, especially drawn to the size of the national mass broadcasting media (TV, Radio, Printed Press), collective thought and the social imagination was tainted, especially by the marked differences in what were defined as "social classes", which were not only determined by purchasing power but also by customs, beliefs and values. That's when the breakup and degeneration of what it turned out to be later begins, a country with prospects of being prosperous to becoming a bad copy of a banana republic like Cuba, in a reloaded version.

As you may have noticed, I am not here to give you details of the economy or political signs - you can look for that in books or on the Internet - but rather how that change actually felt for an ordinary Venezuelan citizen. One more pawn in the play.

decade of the 90s, some violent and dantesque events had already marked the lives of Venezuelans, however the so-called era of democracy was still standing, civil life continued to set the tone for the country, although the fashionable word was "the crisis "and "corruption", there were still traditional private companies,
University degrees were respected, even the poorest settler was unaware of misery and hunger, however, society was already showing strong cracks, it had degenerated, even the ethnic component collapsed, it was beginning to look more like a foreign country, the identity was lost. civilizational influence, it looked more and more like an African country.

Thank you for reading this far, if you liked it and want to know more, with more details and the continuation of this story and reflections, I invite you to give me your like and with that I can accompany myself with a coffee that inspires me to share more about This and other interesting things that I have in mind to share with you.
