MARACUYA OR PARCHITA ... Refreshing and delicious fruit.

Hello friends of steemit, today I want to share with you some information about a fruit, very used in my country; This fruit is the Parchita. I hope this information is to your liking.

The passion fruit, mburukuja, passionflower, parcha, parchita, chinola or mburucuyá, is the fruit of a creeping type of silver, whose scientific name is Passiflora edulis.   

This fruit is a true tropical delight, which comes from the Amazon region, but over time has been introduced in many parts of the world, due to its exquisite bittersweet taste and versatility.  

 The flower of this plant, resembles a crown of thorns, which is why the Spanish colonizers gave it the name: the fruit of passion; the appearance of this flower received a theological interpretation.

The color of the fruit presents differences between the different varieties; the most frequent is yellow, others are red, deep orange or purple. This variety is of aphrodisiac use in many parts of the world.   

The passion fruit or passion fruit; mostly consumed raw, in smoothies and juice. Or you can also consume cuisine in jam or other food. The flower can also be used in salads; since totally edible and tasty, although depending on the variety it may have a mild sedative effect.

Refrigeration is not a problem when preserving juice or pulp, as they can be kept frozen for up to a year, it is likely that this process affects a little the texture of the pulp but the flavor is perfectly preserved without any kind of alteration.   

The fruit of passion fruit has a high content of vitamins and minerals such as calcium, iron, phosphorus and vitamins (A, E and C). Therefore it is good for hair, skin and nails. It has detoxifying properties, the fiber of its seeds improves intestinal movements, and is of high energy value due to its natural glucose content.

 In Venezuela the use of this fruit is quite frequent; With it many preparations are elaborated as: sweets, jams, juices and desserts. Also with the peels you can make a juice, boiling them well beforehand, liquefying them and mixing them with sugar and a little vanilla; from this you get a delicious thick drink called in this country carato de parchita. In some parts this carato can be mixed with white rum, obtaining a cocktail called guarapita.   

Well friends if you have not tried this fruit, dare to try it I assure you that you will not regret it, it is a very versatile fruit and there is much you can do with it.
