Venezuela, America, Who Needs The Aid?

It appears there is a problem in Venezuela. President Nicolás Maduro is still refusing to allow $20 million in “humanitarian” aid from the United States. This seemingly heartless act comes from a place of realistic fear that the United States has a history of doing bad business with NGOs and humanitarian aid. In the past the United States used this tactic as a way to arm the opposition of leaders in an attempt to overthrow the sitting government. This is what happened in Libya and the person in charge of putting together the humanitarian aid is the Secretary of State Mike Pompeo who recently appointed Elliot Abrams as the US special envoy for Venezuela. This name may sound familiar to some people. The Guardian wro![NotMaduro.jpg]()te about Abrams conviction in the Iran-Contra incident; a failed coup against Hugo Chavez’.

It is in the best interest of President Maduro to refuse the aid from America, Brazil and Colombia. Considering the fact that Russia has picked up the helm and has sent its own aid to the suffering country. Of course, this would make sense as Russia has decided to support President Maduro along with China and various other countries.

Clearly the United States isn’t needed in this situation. A place that could use $20 million dollars of assistance is Puerto Rico, Flint, The United States of America. We have a crumbling infrastructure, the highest rates of incarceration on the planet. A homeless epidemic that is spread across the width and breadth of this nation. $20 million dollars would be a nice addition to any project that can help support the people of this country.

The reality is, President Trump is just continuing the American policy of regime change. As we are well aware, there are more powerful sources that guide our foreign policy decisions, the most notable would be private industry. As a capitalist society that has morphed into a full-fledged oligarchy; our government seems to fill obligated to do what’s best for its interest, and that interest is what’s best for the corporations. Not the citizens of Venezuela and not the citizens of the United States.
