Flames and Skulls - Car culture

In the early to mid 50’s specific car culture was born in the USA - the “Hot Rod”. After World War II, many car enthusiasts tried to modify old cars they had from the 30s into the street racing machines. They had no money but they both loved and lived for racing so they did what they could with what they had. Street racing was illegal just like it is today so they formed "gangs" or groups of people who joined in together because it was easier to stay out of police radar if they watch each other's back and of course they could share their love for cars. One of the cool things they did with their cars was paint job. They started to put flames on their cars to symbolize the speed and to recognize each other.
The flames really gave the car its "fairly outrageous appeal" as they said. The car screamed out “Hot Rod”.
Today car cultures are global and you can see them all over the world and today I saw the car in Zemun, Belgrade that reminded me of how it all started.
This car is from the 70s/80s but has the spirit of the 50s. I would really like to see the original "Hot Rod" cars from the 50s, but I am really glad to see something like this in my city.
