Bet ya didn't know THIS about watermelons!
When I cut this open and saw the bright red color, I said out loud, "Dayyyum." It's still watermelon season--the best time to eat watermelon :)
Did you know? Watermelons...
- are a complete protein--containing all of the essential amino acids necessary for human protein synthesis,
- contain all conditional amino acids!
- contain a ton of purified water!
- have a low glycemic load (Good for diabetics!)
- have mostly the fructose form of sugar (does not require insulin)
- alone they can sustain the human diet
- grow very easily ;)
People love this fruit for a good reason!
Yep they act as a great pre-workout also. Check out looking to hit a new pr in the gym. Hope yo'll like it :)
NICE!!!! As for the facts you list about watermelon, did you know that this is pretty much the case with EVERY fruit?? Great post...so happy to see it :)
Just mentioned you, you inspired me to write my article on raw vegan fruitarian diet!
https://steemit.com/vegan/@mattylee707/raw-vegan-fruitarian-diet-is-not-nutritionally-deficient
AWESOME!! I am reading this now and very happy to provide you with "ammo". It is necessary with this world of highly misled people. See you on your article's side :)
Wow I didn't know that fructose does not require insulin to break down in the body. I've done a lot of research into sugars and how they breakdown. And that makes a lot of sense, as far as many fruits having natural sugars that are possible to eat without a blood sugar spike. Thank you for pointing this out :)
Also what did you mean when you said that alone, watermelons can sustain the human diet? Do you mean that if we were to eat only watermelon, you feel that we would get sufficient nutrition from them alone? Thanks for this valuable information :)
You're very welcome...spread the word and let your sugar-conscious friends know. Besides, we are carbon-based life forms...carbon/sugar is kind of a good thing, right!?? :D If we had nitrogen-based vehicles... well, that's a fun thought for later :)
By saying that watermelons (alone) can sustain the human diet, I mean that when you eat watermelon for 60 days, you will be just fine. There's the "mangotarian" on YouTube who is past 100 days of eating just mangos, and a friend of mine has gone 50 days of only eating watermelon. And it makes complete sense.
I did not know these...it was just refreshing to me haha
Lol that's about all we need to know about watermelon anyways, right? :) it's refreshing and therefore must be awesome!
love it! debunks a lot of anti-vegan arguments right here
Nice
excelent for weigth loss
This is very true! Watermelon adds virtually no waste to the body...so of course we will only lose waste (weight) while eating this :D
Just had some today. It's so hard to find seeded watermelon though
true...and eating the seeded watermelon is such a joy for myself :) keep looking for seeded watermelons, and more specifically, look where you haven't looked before! I have found some amazing produce shops by visiting new stores that I didn't even know existed! And I am now very happy:)
WOW! That sounds interesting. I have heard this for first time:
Thanks for this info! However I find it hard to cut a whole watermelon when I'm all alone. It's too much for me. But these days I've notices tiny watermelons in the market ...probably custom made for singles 😉 Dunno how natural are those though!
I'll tell ya what: after you cut the watermelon, you can always put what you don't eat back into the refrigerator! A single watermelon provides a lot of food :)
But I never refrigerate any fruits or vegetables after cutting them open. I eat them fresh only. Anyway, thanks for your suggestion!
Ah that's sooo good! You could always let the watermelon warm up naturally outside of the refrigerator before ya continue to eat. Only through freezing will you alter it and make it less optimal ! However I completely hear ya...it is still relatively less fresh ! I do this because it still tastes great hehe
So, what your saying is .... they're good for me? Blasphemy lol
Exactly!! Watermelon is awesome. Let's all remember that, and eat more!
