Dear Diary 12th Jan
WELCOME...AGAIN
Do you know, I've written this introduction, welcome to my diary many times before. In fact, over the last 15 years I have started quite a few blogs. Bought domain names going into the double digits. And then let them expire. Actually long before they expired I lost interest, moved onto the next shiny thing and they died a slow decaying death.
So this time I am not allowed to buy the domain name or hosting until I can write regularly for at least 6 months on Steemit without losing interest. And heck, I might decide to stay on Stemmit anyway. Don't you love giving yourself a good 'ole challenge? Well, it is the month for it challenges, isn't it?
This month I have inflicted double pain on myself by not thinking through the consequences of my actions.
Foolish whim number 1. "Yes, I'll participate in Veganuary!" After eating all that meat at christmas and thinking I must give up sausages before I turn into one, I jumped on the Veganuary bandwagan, made the kids watch:
[ Vegan 2017 The Film] (
Then, declared to the husband I am vegan for the month of January. Now I am counting down the days until the end of the month. It is torture when passing anywhere cooking bacon and egg rolls, but it is a challenge that if nothing else will be a test of my will power and ability to "do what I said I would do".
But then there is foolish whim number 2. After drinking nearly every day from a week or two before christmas (I am homesick - I'm sure it's allowed), to maybe the 5th of Jan, and having a few particularly good days with cryptocurrency, I then declared to the husband that I wouldn't have another drink until my crypto portfolio reaches five figures. Which at the time seemed like only a few weeks away. However after a few red days I am pretty much back to where I was at the start of the month and the five figures seem like they might be 2 or 3 months away...so no meat or wine. All I have left is coffee and chocolate. Actually I can't bring myself to check if the dark chocolate is actually vegan because if it's not, then I really might go mental.
So let the third challenge begin! Daily Dear Diary updates with views on expat life, kids, health, cooking, the decline of my business empire and the rise of my crypto empire (in my dreams, but also according to my spreadsheet...I am the queen of spreadsheets, but that's a post for another day).
