Native - The platform to Meet People of Like Minds And Add Value to Each other via the blockchain
Introduction
This explains the reason why community-driven efforts like Democracy street have gone unnoticed and people would rather wait for someone who might not necessary share the same belief, values as them buy their duty under the guise of leadership whereas history has revealed to us the deep truth about our failing economy and immediate community.
For instance what do you ascribed to the chain of ugly economic crisis that have marked the last 3 decades or so, starting out with the Black Monday in 1987, the Asian debt crises of late 90's and culminating in the economic collapse of 2009 and the subsequent housing bubble crisis. This events left a lot of mark on our pride as people not only lost their money, they lost their value along with it! The point is we can only thrive as a Nation when we have a community that actively supports our visions and goals.
Now existing social media would have come to the rescue in this technology age but they are build to help people find friends or who they like whereas a community can only exist when we have people of like minds coming together to achieve a certain goal. Native communities are built on this principle of helping people of like minds to meet and raise an economy to actively support their visions and help them reach their goals. Lets dive deeper into what the Native platform entails
What Is Native
Native is an Ethereum-built platform that allows individuals with common interest to meet and achieve their set goals.
Native community is built on this premises as outlined below
Which means that Native is everybody who believe in the power of the collective to foster growth and development. All it takes on Native is finding the right community or by simply creating one!
Native(NTV) token represents the currency of the Native platform although each community must creates his own currency which will be used in running the affairs of each independent communities
Finding A community Via Native
Finding a community on Native is pretty easy new members have access to the community dashboard which displays an overview of all the activities within the community. This helps you to identify easily with a group of people that carries the same drive and energy as you.
Before you can get to use the Native platform, you must have a brave browser to launch the Native app and also metamask to synchronise your wallet with the Native platform and little Ether to purchase the Native (NTV) token.
Once the prerequisites are met, you are ready to launch into the Native app properly and join any community that fits your interest and goals just by staking a portion of your NTV in that community after converting it to the local currency of the community. Distance restrictions can also be activated only by purchasing the said community currency and joining.
Here are the roles a member can play within the Native Economy
Members join communities with values, interests and goals they care about
Membership grants these individuals certain rights
Members make crucial decisions regarding capital deployment and community direction
Members have the power to replace Curators
Members can join multiple communities
So far so good , 6 pilot communities have launched on the Native/ platform. Do well to go through them here
- Earth Guardians is a Boulder, Colorado based non-profit that engages young people in programs to empower and amplify their voice, specifically around environmental justice.
- Imaginal Films is a community of conscious film enthusiasts: filmmakers, viewers, and founders convened in one digital ecosystem to collectively develop, produce and distribute conscious films.
- SDG Futures is a decentralized and distributed communities and technology stack for the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
- Peace Accelerators is a New-York-based non-profit that is committed to accelerating the spread of global peace by using a community-driven, tech-centric, and future-forward perspective to devise solutions that leverage emergent technologies for the betterment of humanity.
- DOLO is a decentralized open learning organization working to iterate towards a future of smart education that is more open, agile, and rewarding for all stakeholders.
- The Rick & Morty Crew is a collection of fans committed to embracing all things wubalubadubdub!”
Creating a community on Native
Interestingly enough, any local or digital collective who gathers around a common interest or mission can create a community which can be administered by a curator elector by the members of the community via a simple poll. Just like the members curators have some shared responsibility within the community and can be replaced if necessary
Curators :
The administrators of Native communities
Have the deepest knowledge of the community’s initial vision
Are a filter to ensure only beneficial content is added for members to view and vote on
Approve or deny work created by community members
Native Governance Model
As we have come to know that Native aims to run a people-centric economy which means that members have the right to make decisions on projects which are of high value to the goals and aspirations of the community.
Therefore governance options are delivered through simple template to aid non-technical members and ensure wide participation of members within the platform. Allowing everyone to legitimately participate in things they care about.
What Native seeks to achieve is to empower communities to realize their inherent value in global economy and unlock the power of the collective to generate widespread impact and prosperity.
Native thrives on the ideals of a democratic community that delegates power to the people who constitute the community.
How Native And the Community within it thrives
For any community to survive depends on the rate at which value is being added, which translates to a high influx of people who are willing to make a change. This cant be any less true for a platform like Native.
More people = More Value
Therefore Native will deploy the Native(NTV) token as the base currency for currencies created by any community within the Native platform thereby allowing this currency to hold a reserve in the Native token while adopting an initial conversion split to enable a significant pool of liquidity that drives high investors interest. This opens the channel for more people to join the Native community easily.
Native Ecosystem Initial Conversion split | ||
---|---|---|
Native Token | Community currency | |
Community Fund | 50% | 80% |
Smart Token Converter | 40% | 10% |
Converter Balance | 10% | 10% |
Community fund - Resource pool for community spending
Smart Token Converter - Traditional Bancor converter which modifies price and supply based on connector weight
Converter Balance - Direct addition of value to existing token supply
Native platform will adopt the continous token model so that tokens can be minted and destroyed as users interact via the bancor protocol with the smart contract.
Other benefits of this model are
Instant Liquidity for tokens at calculated price
Accurate Indicators of market size and activity
Currency value based on tangible results rather than speculation
Meanwhile the bancor protocol also allows users to easily convert between any two tokens at a transparent and fair market value without any second party.
Another important aspect apart from how the platform is funded is how price of token is calculated using this important parameters within the Native Platform
- Connector/Reserve Balance : Value of Base Currency held in Reserve
- Outstanding Supply : Number of tokens in circulation
- Connector Weight = Connector Balance (defined above) / Smart Token MarketCap
Here are the formulas:
Price = (Connector balance) / ( Smart token's outstanding supply X CW)
CW = ( Connector Balance ) / ( Smart Token's total value )

See the Bancor Whitepaper for a further breakdown of this model.
Highlighting the Features and Benefits of the Native Platform
- Each community has its own unique token to signify membership or to use as a medium of exchange
- Members have the ability to vote on polls and give their feedback to the community
- Financial activities that requires an escrow are decentralized
- Members can complete important task in exchange for tokens
- Intuitive Interface to enable transparent and effective decision making
- Non-financial activity are centralized e.g creating a poll, completing a task
- Provide maximum benefit ensuring native is not a single point of failure
- Dashboard to display an overview of all activity within a community such as active project proposal, available task, membership history
Summary
The various usecase of the Native Platform is aptly summarised in the words of its founder who sees a bright future in the deployment of blockchain as a tool for value addition even beyond money. Read his full excerpts below.
Use Case
- Find a Project to Inspire You
I mentioned democracy streets briefly in the introductory part of this article. Democracy street is an community-driven initiative, where a resource person especially artist tries to organise workshop for people to get to discover more about the history of their local street names and also have oppurtunity to participate in major art work.
In this article which delve more into their activity, it was surprising to learn that in one of such program, the number of participants grew as time wores on after only starting out with few numbers.
Similar projects like this goes unnoticed in our community everyday while we search every other place for inspiration, value and knowledge. Meanwhile bringing such a project on a platform like Native will allow more people to support the project, while others can get inspired fron such moves and organise similar projects within their community fostering better economic growth via the community
