Logo design for ZCMD
Repository
Linked Task Request
This post is about showing all the development for the creation of a logotype for the open source project ZCMD, I will be specifying some technical points that were used to make the contribution, as well as a brief description of the project.
The owner of the project describes it in the following way:
The ZCMD framework is a collection of bash and python utilities and configuration conventions that facilitate the operation and management of docker containers and collections of containers ("zcmd stacks").
The framework is intended to be appropriate for use in DEV, STAGE, and PROD environments.
During a search in GITHUB to contribute to some open source project that really had the need for a logo to contribute to the open source system, I found the ZCMD project the owner of the project was asking for help to modify the previous logo a more modern logo cleaner and that better expressed the project.
Seeing the need of the owner came in contact with the same to offer my contribution to which responds in a positive way and gives me some indications of what they are bucando, so I start to develop some ideas, in a prinpicio the logo they had was a killer whale and within it the text ZCMD in a very rough and poorly incorporated way, therefore from the beginning my intention was to maintain the theme of the killer whale but in a cleaner and more harmonious way.
Start my design as always starting from the paper and pencil, this way I can work on a much more comfortable idea and make the illustration easier, the idea was to make a killer whale that entered a circle and at the same time incorporate the ZCMD text, in the first proposal I was suggested to integrate the concept of containers and that the project is based on a container of functions, so I start to re-design but looking to keep the killer whale without overloading the design.
So I transformed the design of a solid vector to a vector of only lines with a thickness not too exaggerated so as not to load the design I integrated the containers the result was fascinating to the naked eye you can observe the whale next to the containers without overloading the design, at the same time you see an immaculate image that is very easy to remember.
Then I present some technical characteristics of the logo, colors, text used among others.
Part of the main benefits of this contribution was to have created a new logo for a project that is under development and that did not have a designer in the team that created the logo, therefore my contribution adds that extra content that is of great importance to be able to identify the project. Below are other benefits provided by this contribution.
*Flexible in any size.
*Easy to remember.
*It can be used in different colors.
*All files in vector format for future modifications.
