TRANSLATION: Node.js | German | 1451 Words
This report is about my translation work of Node.js
Project links
Description
Node.js is a JavaScript runtime built on Chrome's V8 JavaScript engine and it is intented to provide a coding environment for scalable network applications.
In this step I started to translate the document "PULL-REQUESTS.MD", which describes the process of introducing changes to Node.js via GitHub: https://crowdin.com/translate/nodejs/229/en-de.
My work
The Source language is English and I translated it into German. From the 1 048 272 words of the project, I translated so far in1451.
The Node.js project contains difficult texts for a non-specified translater in the software branch. It requires a deeper understanding of the habits in this branch, so I had to educate myself regarding special terms and their usage in different contexts. For example: I had to leave "commit" untranslated, since this special term from software technology, not to be mistaken with commitment (German: "Verpflichtung") and describes the organisation of the implementing of new software versions. The same is for "squashing", that cannot be translated literally. After some research in the software and programmer communities I found out that they "germanize" these phrases like "wir haben die Commits gesquasht"). Another example is "a commit gets landed" – here it is also usefull not to translate it.
Another important note: Since the community language on GitHub is English, I left the example message for commits (in paragraph 4) completely untranslated.

Dear @laylahsophia,
thank you for your contribution to the German DaVinci translation team. Your translation of the
Node.js
project has been reviewed. This translation was very good, I found only a few mistakes. However, I found a few spelling mistakes in your contribution itself, which is the reason I evaluated your post only with "good" at the 4th questionaire.Best regards, @infinitelearning
