Node.js is an open-source, cross-platform JavaScript run-time environment that executes JavaScript code outside the browser.

Node.js brings event-driven programming to web servers, enabling development of fast web servers in JavaScript. Developers can create highly scalable servers without using threading, by using a simplified model of event-driven programming that uses callbacks to signal the completion of a task. Node.js connects the ease of a scripting language (JavaScript) with the power of Unix network programming.

In easier to understand words: Node-js is a free platform whose goal is to provide its users the possibility to create lightweight and cost efficient web servers, how does Node.js do this?

Node.js handles web server connections in a way so they don´t take up as much space in a server, and thus, the owner of a project would not need to invest as much money in multiple servers to store so much information in Gigabytes.

Being an Open Source Project, Node.js possesses immense value for providing so much while at the same time being totally free.

Translation Overview

In this contribution, I succeeded in translating 5 of the smaller Node.js's subfolders:

Tracing.md:

This folder explains how the Trace Event traces information generated by V8, how it is enabled, and the results that this event produces when used in Node.js.

Synopsis.md:

This folder explains different ways and code that can be used when running a server.

Punycode.md:

This folder is the deprecated version of its updated version called: "Punycode.js"

Punycode is a character encoding scheme defined by RFC 3492 that is primarily intended for use in Internationalized Domain Names.

For instance, the Japanese character that translates into the English word, 'example' is '例'. The Internationalized Domain Name, '例.com' (equivalent to 'example.com') is represented by Punycode as the ASCII string 'xn--fsq.com'.

V8.md:

V8 is a module that exposes APIs and performs several other actions, such as returning objects, returning statistics and setting command line flags.

Tty.md:

Tty is both a text terminal and a module that provides two classes:

One of them is: tty.ReadStream
It is a subclass of [net.Socket][] that represents the readable side of a TTY.

The other one is: tty.WriteStream
It is a subclass of net.Socket that represents the writable side of a TTY.

In computer science, an integer is a type of data that is able to represent a finite subset of mathematical integers. The biggest number that this can represent depends on the size of the space used by the data and the possibility (or lack thereof) of representing negative numbers.

The available types of integer data and their size depend on the programming language that is being used.

Internationalized Domain Name:

It is an internet domain name that (potentially) contains non-ASCII characters. This type of domain can contain characters that have diacritics, as required in several European languages (one of them being Spanish); as well as Arabic and Chinese writing characters.

Standard domain names don't allow such characters.

Languages

The project's source language is English and it is being translated into Spanish.

Also, Node.js is currently being translated into other 32 languages. I´m contributing to making this project accessible to the Spanish speaking community online.

Besides collaborating as a translator for Open Source Projects on Crowdin I also work as a Freelance Translator for a law firm in the US, I've been working for that company for one year and six months, translating sworn statements and legal documents from English to Spanish and viceversa.
