Help me Build Another Game!
Concept GIF by @deveereri
This is part of the Road Map I made, specifically this part:
- Designing more Mini Games likes Oh Steem (probably open-sourced, forked, Steemit-themed)
Here is the updated rough Road Map I made:
- Launch of Oh Steem (a forked game/theme from 0hh1). (Done!)
> I was able to do this with your contributions, you can check out the Test Site in https://deveerei.github.io/OhSteem/
- Implement the Design into the Code. (Done!).
> After constant trial and errors (I'm a noob!) and help from Developers. Oh Steem now looks like the Oh Steem I want
- Launch of browser extensions (Chrome, Firefox, Safari, etc).
- Launch of Oh Steem website (like 0hh1.com).
- Designing more Mini Games likes Oh Steem (probably open-sourced, forked, Steemit-themed)
- Launching a Game Gallery (Proposal to Steemit Condenser Repository/standalone extension or website) that will house all Oh Steem -like games.
- Designing and launching own games (own games/not forked).
- Study of the possibility of providing game rewards backed by Steem/SBD.
- Study of the possibility of launching a gaming SMT.
I need help from Game Developers to develop the Steem Cannon game!
It's basically a shooting game with a Steemit-themed cannon (if we can't use the Steemit logo here we can come up with another cannon design) shooting down other social media logos (if we can't really use their logos, we just need to come up with a better idea or replace them).
I think a game like this will be very simple to design but I don't have any knowledge in developing it so I wouldn't really know the steps.
I also found this list that may help with developing it:
I've already created the Repository here:
https://github.com/deveerei/Steem-Cannon
It already has the following:
- Fonts
- Icons made by @deveerei to use for target
- Cannon and cannonball png
- Title and Banner images
- Read me
- License
- Necessary Folders to use.
And I am continuously adding stuff into it that will be helpful in developing. I will be working on the graphics part for this one.
Please check it out. You can discuss this with me further on Discord. Check out the first game called OhSteem.
Please post any contribution to this game through Utopian.io!

I can contribute original sound effects and a song.
For sound effects I'm thinking these will be good:
Cannon shooting sound
Cannon Aiming Sound
Cannonball Hitting Logo sound
Cannonball Misses Everything sound
ambient background noise / "song" (bird chirping maybe)
"You Win" celebration sound / melody
"You Lose" fail sound / melody
1 looping song for the intro page (theme song)
I'll play around with it tonight. "Oh Steem" is a fun one BTW, I just played through the 4 and 6 levels. Good brain teaser :-)
Woah. I totally neglected the sounds part cause I don't put volume on my phone or laptop anymore. I only add volume when I watch a video or intended to play music. Got to take note of this.
@heymattsokol Let me know if you ever want any help with any of the sound effects or the songs.
cool, I'll keep you in mind!
Do you think it would be fun to play this on mobile too? Have it on Google Play Store and on iStore for more Steemit exposure?
That will be nice. I just need a developer to help me.
I do not know anyone. I hope you find one. =)
Thanks Gail. :)
I can help mobile (android) development of this game. We can have it on Google Play also. Although I am still an amateur I have 3 games in Google Play.
The only thing is, we have to find someone to write the script in Unity for Steemit high score post and upvote.
What the game shall do is :
1- Each new game start shall upvote the weekly main game post in steemit
2-Scores are issued as a reply to this post - also kept in cloud (google scores) to prevent fraud
3-Each week top scorer of the week is rewarded with the weekly income of the post.
I can handle the mechanics and animations but steemit side we need help...
FD.
@gailbelga @deveerei I'm new to this community and I'm really looking forward to contribute something.
I have a bit of Java/android programming experience and my class next semester is a software engineering class which we have to collaborate in a team and build an android app from scratch. Perhaps I could help with making a simple Java implementation of the game, ( or even using C++ and openFramework. Then it could easily be ported to all platforms)
I don't really have any experience working on any open source projects but I really want to start contributing so I might need a bit of guidance :).
Anyway I will do some research and see if I can come up with anything. I'll be sure to post anything I do through utopian.io for feedback.

Is the actual source code avaiable? The .js file on github looks like it was compiled with OpenFL. I'm asking because I found a bug and wanted to submit a fix.
Is that the Enemy Flies Away bug when you hit 2 of them at the same time?
Yes, exactly!
