Utopian Is Alive and Well, Powering the Open Source Economy
Introduction
For the few of you who don't know, Utopian.io is the only platform rewarding contributions to open source projects by utilizing the STEEM Blockchain.
I've been following this project since it's humble beginning in September 2017. I'm still amazed by the amount of work that is being done, the dedicated community and its future.
Where is Utopian at?
It might be hard to believe but Utopian-io has generated more than 16,279 posts 211,205 comments and 1,511,292.277 SBD in rewards!
That's a whole lot of money to the open source economy!

Utopian UI V2 Coming Soon
A brand new front-end user interface is in the work thanks to @hernandev, @icaro, @mkt and tensor-programming. You can follow it's development here: https://github.com/utopian-io/v2.utopian.io
I'm being told that this brand new UI should be ready within the month of July!!!

Utopian Open Source Radio Show
The value of a project is easily measured by the amount of enthusiasm in its community. The Utopian community is the most engaged and enthusiastic steem community that I've encountered to date.
The Utopian Open Source Radio Show is one example of that.
Waiting For SMTs
For Utopian to reach its full potential, it needs SMTs. Not only because the current distribution of Steem makes it difficult to properly rewards contribution but Utopian need to be in control of its own economy. SMTs would allow injecting some funding into the project, create a completely new distribution of token and rewards properly those who contribute the most.

Utopian is ideal for its own token. You are right, it needs to have its own economy that it has control over.
I always forget about this project since I am not a techie programmer. Is there still means to contribute without having that knowledge and background?

I really want to assist an open source project or two. I can code in php (I got a domain and practiced with it, i-qoptions.com, recently), js/html/ajax is not strange (I pass time with hacked frontend codes sometime), java and c/c++ for windows apps et al. I love playing with new languages so, I will cherish fresh challenges.
Will definitely checkout Utopian, may be I'll find something to contribute to there.
