Joomla! is an opensource content management system which can be found on Github repository. Its initial release was in 2005. It has GNU General Public License and written in PHP which is using techniques of object oriented programming. It is a really widespread CMS solution. It his downloaded over 80 million and it has plugins over 8000 which can be found in official Joomla! Extensions Directory free or with their commercial license. It is a very widespread content management solution but it is still considering as second in the market. First one is Wordpress as most of you think.
Why Joomla!
Joomla! is a fast CMS solution. It is also open source project which means it is driven by community mostly, and it is free to download and upgrade. Even the technical infrastructure is fast, easy to edit and use; there is also customization side of content management systems which includes themes, plugins and many other things. And Joomla! has vast number of themes, and plugins over 8000 which is divided into 33 categories. And as a P.S you can even create an e-commerce website by using Joomla!.
