Where my username comes from
I was recently nominated by sistem in a challenge that taskmaster4450 had started with the rules being:
- Tell us in a post how you chose the current Steemit username you have. The story behind it.
- Tell us your real name!
- If you could change your current username, which name would you choose and why? If you have a possible usernames list, mention it!
- Use the tag #steemitnamechallenge so that I can track all the posts and check them out
- Nominate 5 people for this challenge
Although I may not follow all rules I thought I'd share where my username comes from anyway.
Before you read the story, let me know in the comments where you think my nickname originated from.
A long time ago when I was just getting started at secondary school at the age of 12 or so, there was this one student in my friendgroup that kept forgetting my name constantly. This one time he was telling me something and blurted out 'Acid' all of a sudden, everyone surprised by this random name found it quite funny and asked him how that popped up in his head.
Apparently he was a wrestling fan and had just last night watched some where a wrestler called Trent Acid was performing. Not that my real name is close to Acid or that I maybe look much like him, but the nickname got stuck anyway after that day. Nicknames are pretty common here in Finland and they start pretty early, I didn't really mind it that much except that it sounded a bit too random and had an english tone.
A year later we moved and the students in my new school started using my real name at first, they were trying some nicknames to go along with it but somehow it didn't seem fitting. I didn't mention my past nickname as I thought maybe its for the best if it gets buried, but to my surprise a student in that school was a relative to a friend in my last school and he had asked him about me and the nickname had of course come up. When the student mentioned it one day "what's up with you being called Acid?" I had to retell the story and they kind of decided to go with it whether I liked it or not, lol.
I didn't really mind it much over the years, the only issues it kind brought up was from people who didn't know me and especially parents of friends who became suspicious as to why I was called that. As I was growing older and meeting friends/girlfriends parents they always asked where it originated from and if I was into drugs. Did get a bit awkward at times but I didn't really care all too much.
Over the years as I became more and more of a gaming geek I was using my nickname in games as well, since its quite a common name I had to switch it up between World of Warcraft characters now and then such as Acidsap for my Rogue, Acidrage for my Warrior and at some point Acidyo for a class I can't even recall anymore.
Yes, I am a gaming nerd, hence why I spend most days gaming/streaming nowadays. :)
Can't really think of someone to nominate so I guess I'll skip that rule as well, hope you enjoyed the read.
Because you're a regular psychonaut psilocybin acid tripper?
...I hope it's part of the answer anyways as I appreciate psychedelics though I haven't ingested any in quite while... which is unfortunate...
Not having any psylocybin is as disappointing as the origins of @acidyo’s name. Can’t wait for the psylocybin producing yeast. :D
Could sure use a few kilos of zoomers while on lockdown... would be way more fun!
I wish that was the case, and yeah, I kinda miss tripping.
Good morning, nice post. I chose Marius19 because that is how Marius calls me and 19 that is a special date for me ... A beautiful day and everything will be good in the world after all.
