Abortions.
This wasn't always the case. Hospitals used to perform a lot of abortions. But when the Hyde Amendment was passed, hospitals could no longer get reimbursed for abortions from Medicaid, so many stopped performing them.
I think people really underestimate the second order effects of these "compromise" policies like the Hyde Amendment.
Republicans aren't even satisfied with the Hyde Amendment. They want to defund places like Planned Parenthood entirely since they perform abortions. We should be clear in our opposition.
If a healthcare provider cares for Medicaid/Medicare patients, they should be reimbursed for that care. The federal government shouldn't be targeting organizations like that.
