A Walk Through a Creepy Abandoned House w/ Johnny & K0WSK1
So you know those houses that you see out in the countryside that have been abandoned for 30 or so years and are covered in blackberries, ivy, and other such nature? Johnny and I let our curiosity get the best of us yesterday and ventured into one of these places we found while out exploring.
It looks pretty unreachable from the above photo, but there’s a neat little path on the left that leads through the jungle right to the front door (which was wide open).
Johnny called into the house to see if anyone was inside and no one responded, so we made our way in.
This place was nuts - it seemed like with the way the path was beaten down to the door and everything was broken that people had been squatting here... Or something.
No evidence of humans though (needles, feces), just a lot of broken shit.
I’m actually glad we went in here, I’ve always been curious to see what one of these beat up farmhouses looks like on the inside. We have a ton of this stuff around here - dilapidated and forgotten homes.

Super cool! We went in one a long time ago that I presume belonged to a ww2 vet. There were a lot of old military things in the shed outside.

Tons! I only nabbed a single round of AP .30-06 though. Wish I still had it, but it's been lost to the ages.
It was out in Mitchell county Texas in a dying cotton town called Loraine. Dry red dirt as far as the eye can see except for the occasional cottonwood stand by a dried up creek.

These old forgotten places seem to have such a history. You wonder about the people who lived there ... and why they left ... and why the house was just abandoned to fall into ruin.
You have to know somebody owns this property ... and this place. It's an asset that, if nothing else, could be turned into cash and handed off to someone ready and willing to do something with it.
But, like you said, they fascinate me. I've explored several through the years. Each time I come away feeling the house itself deserves better than to just be left to rot like this.
Everything you mention is true, m8... It’s a really curious thing to explore someone elses old house, belongings, memories. It’s also true that there’s probably someone else that would love to turn these places around. Lots of work to do that kind of thing though.
