Why I decided to stop using centralized job markets like Upworks

I have been working using webs like Freelancer and Elance for long

My favorite site was Elance for several years before ODesk bought them aprox 1 year ago and both platforms joined to become Upworks

Once they got a big share of the freelance work Market they increased the fees for withdrawing the money ,also more days were required to have your money in your bank account ,although it is true that the interface design is much cooler

Also I can feel a big difference in the way they work with the freelancers , it looks like they are focused in get as much money as they can

So , for the second time in the last few weeks my customer has had problems with his credit card he is using to pay for the service.

Upworks then pauses the contract so no more time can be logged until they investigate

Well , they promise to be quick doing the checks , and you have to trust them since there is nothing else you can do

So , the way Upworks deals with this issue is reviewing the time I logged as worked and rejecting what they dont like

They really dont care whether you were in a meeting with the customer , or maybe you were using a virtual machine and browsing for some extra info for the project

Does not matter whether the customer is happy with your work , they dont bother to ask if there is an agreement between the customer and the freelancer, they just get the money they consider is right
