The Power of Upvote Bots: My Experience + a Guide!

in #upvotebots7 years ago

Hey guys! Some of you might know that I recently just did an article here talking about how upvote bots are hurting the platform. I still stand by this viewpoint. Upvote bots really hurt genuine and organic growth, but as of now, no matter how bad I think they are, I know utilizing them correctly is the only way to win on this platform and attract the followers I want!

My Experience

Ever since I began using upvote bots, I have seen a dramatic amount of unique upvotes and comments on my posts! For example, my last 3 has had over 10 comments each, one even with 40+!

Compare this with posts from a couple months ago (when I had around 600 followers, only about 35% less than now) when I was only using small upvote bots.

Evidently, upvote bots have dramatically boosted the amount of attention my posts get, so much so that I no longer have time to reply to all the comments! I used to reply to EVERY worthwhile comment, but now I see heaps of long comments that I simply don't have time to reply to... if you're in that category, I'm sorry. I will endeavor to make time to reply to all of them if not today, perhaps tomorrow or on the weekend!

There have also been certain people that I have made friends with here on Steemit, but their comments diluted with the new followers so I don't even get to see them around much anymore! It's kinda sad but I guess it's also part of expanding my blog and "growing up" in a sense. Posting daily and using bots are really paying off!

A Short Guide

  • Only upvote posts that are worthwhile. If you boost every post (like I do), people may see one that is kinda pointless and choose to ignore all your future posts too. This is NOT what you want. I am trying very hard to ensure that all my posts are "hot" worthy and even trending worthy! I don't have enough money to promote my posts to trending but I make sure all my posts at least hit hot, if not for "all categories" at least for one of the main ones.
  • Don't upvote posts that are too old. If you upvote a post for let's say $100 that's 2 days old, chances are no one's going to see it. However, if you upvote a post that's an hour old, your $100 upvote will likely push it to "hot", thus more people will see it and if it gains enough attention it might be pushed to trending!
  • Reply to as much as you can on the posts you boost! It shows that you are a genuine person who cares about their users and genuinely want to make it work here on Steemit. I cannot stress enough how important it is to form genuine bonds with your followers and develop a communal feel on your blog!

And also we must take into account that the bots are not as advanced as they look to humans, at least not in steemit. I commented as a curiosity that the most advanced bot I have found on the internet is called mitsuki bot, it is really impressive, if you do not know it, I'll leave the link for you or anyone else to try it. It is the closest thing to a human I know and really very impressive. Thanks for your advice, I liked them and I think they are very good pal.

Interesting read mate!

Im doing an experiment with bots at the moment - just had a week using bots and now having a week bot free to compare:

I think that if you want to get anywhere near trending then yes you need to use bots - its the sad truth. I am probably going to stop using bots after this I really dont think it was how Steemit was intended to be - it is meant to be manual curation!

I agree when I use the bots I only upvote the best content and not every single post - some Steemians really look down at people for doing this

hey I'm going to look at your publication, from now I follow you, I think it's interesting what you propose.

I wish you a happy day and a better life

yes.you are totally right.thanks for sharing.it will help for new steemian.

Thank you very much for your advice, we really find them very valuable and we will follow them. You are a great contribution to steemit. We love you.

@cryptoeater, I keep my point of view regarding the voting bot, and definitely to grow we must invest but we must not forget that the more original our content, the more attention we will have.

I might have puzzled out why you receive pretty much upvoted when buying votes. While most of the time it aren't really high valuable votes and they pretty much directly stop the minute you stop buying upvotes from the bots.

Most people that check trending and hot are the newbies. The Steemonians that don't know yet that trending and hot are spoiled because of the bots.
So the minute you stop buying upvotes, those people won't see your posts anymore. And that's also the reason why you basically don't get any upvotes from whales, orcas and even dolphins.

So I still wonder if this on long term will bring any success? I'm quite sure about one thing. If anyone can pull it off, it's got to be you!
