Goodbye Uber, Service in Indonesia Officially Closed
Indonesia lost one of the options of online transportation services. Uber, originally from the United States, had to leave East Asia, including Indonesia, after selling his entire business in the region to his Grab competitor on March 26.
Uber's driver partners, both UberMotor, UberX, and UberXL have moved to the Grab platform, others are moving to other competitors in Indonesia, Go-Jek.
In addition, Uber users have also been advised since the announcement of the acquisition to move through the Grab service.
Sunday (8/4) yesterday, became the last day of Uber application active in Indonesia, and other Southeast Asian countries, except Singapore whose 'lifetime' Uber application extended until April 15, related to the request of the Commission for Business Competition Supervision (KPPU) in the country .
Starting Monday (9/4), practically Uber application in Indonesia can no longer be used to order any service. But, users can still see their travel history in the app.
Uber is now a memory. They first operated in Indonesia in 2014 ago. Although CEO Uber Dara Khosrowshahi had declared Uber will continue to fight in Southeast Asia, but in fact the reality is different.
He finally decided to release Uber in Southeast Asia. Dara himself gained a position in the board of directors of Grab as part of the two companies' agreement.
Uber's departure turned out to make his customers loyal. As observed on Twitter, not a few of those who feel sad and lose. This is expressed through their chirp on the social media platform of the blue bird.
Some of them are a bit stronger, saying 'goodbye' with a not too fragile tone by thanking Uber for his service.
In fact, Go-Jek was up to say thank you to Uber who is considered their inspiration and also a sweet farewell greeting.
A day before the end of Uber's operations on the Indonesian asphalt, hundreds of UberMotor drivers flocked to a convoy around Jakarta wearing their orange-black pride jackets as the last act of togetherness.
Earlier, Uber had taken the same step, selling its business to local companies in a number of areas, such as Didi Chuxing in China and Yandex in Russia and beyond.
Now only the remaining Grab and Go-Jek will continue to fight in order to provide the best online transportation services in Indonesia.
Goodbye, Uber.
