Amazing Adjustments That Have Happened to My Life Since I Found Steemit | Unboxing My Self
Growing up, I was more on the quiet side. I enjoyed reading books, listening to music and other solitary activities. I feel stuck with the personality I was born with. I don't open up myself to other people that I haven't build trust with. My social battery easily gets drained. And I prefer to stay in my comfort zone, my whole world revolves around it. I'm a typical introvert with no plans of coming out of my shell. Im aloof, or I guess I prefer to be.
In many instances, before I joined the community, I heard my colleagues talked about Steem it over our coffee break. They seem to be very engaged, I got curious and started to ask questions. Thanks to @smb14 she invited me to give it a try. Honestly, at first I was more interested with what I will earn, it was a perfect timing, I've been trying to look for a heap of ways to earn extra income. I got interested, registered and after joining, I then realized that there is more than just monetary gain.
I joined Steem it on October 2017, within that three months as a Steemian, I started to change the way I see myself. The platform made a positive impact to my life, and gave me tons of reasons to UNBOX my self.
• I started to feel good connecting with people from culturally diverse background, sharing thoughts with everyone, who are incredibly as welcoming as each other. I realized that the world doesn't just revolve around my comfort zone and my interests. The world is interestingly big and full of genuine people.
• I'm slowly conquering my social anxiety disorder. I am more encourage to open up my self to other people. I remember one post that hits me right through the heart, about how a girl found hope after an inescapable venture. I was amazed by how other people can easily share their dark experiences from the past, when I don't even know how to unawkwardly start a good conversation.
• I've started to freely share my thoughts, I never thought that I can express my self in a form of writing. I can't tell if there is an improvement with my grammar and sentence construction, all I'm sure about is that I'm more spontaneous in writing than I was before, and was amazed by the continuous flow of my ideas.
• I've learned to be grateful to every small things I have. The #untalented entries were just very relatable, it encourages me to make the most out of what I have.
• I've been able to manage much time well. I realized that other social media platforms are up to no good, and a totally time wasters.
• I've learned to make my existence, here in Steem it, count by reaching out to other Steemians, providing positive feedback through comments, resteems and upvotes, these simple gestures can help encourage those that were frustrated, those that are just developing, and those that are already providing quality content waiting to be discovered.
• I felt appreciated and valued, which had helped boost my self-esteem. Thanks to those who commented and upvoted my previous posts. You guys rock.
• I feel more confident with my self, I realized that I can be more than what I think I can ever be. It have pushed me a bit and made me break out of my shell slightly. I'm becoming less hesitant in sharing my passion for poem, music and blogging. One of my piece won from a poetry contest hosted by @terrycraft. Got enough guts up to share my first song cover and just recently posted my first official open mic entry hosted by @luzcypher. I want to share my passion of art and music, i may not have the best poetry piece nor the sweetest voice but I want to do what my heart desires, I want to expand my audiences, than just the usual blank walls in my room.
• I realized there is so much out there that I don’t know, so much that I have to learn. I realized there was nothing more meaningful than to pursue a life of development and betterment. It is through improving ourselves that we get the most out of life.
Loudest shout out to @surpassinggoogle for motivating, not just me, but thousands of Steemians from all corners of the earth. He is friendly, approachable, outspoken, inspiring and down to earth. This is a screenshot of my first encounter with him, unexpectedly he responded, in an instant, with the best advice. I was deeply moved by his words.
The human potential is limitless, so it’s impossible to reach a point of no growth. Whenever we think we are good, we can be even better.
I hope this post serves as an inspiration. It's indeed a Happy New Year with Steem it.

Very nice! You can change anything about yourself if you decide to do it. That’s not to say being an introvert is a bad thing. I used to be very shy and consider myself introverted. Now I see introverted people as being more sensitive to outside stimuli, it’s not the same as being shy or quiet, you just can’t adjust yourself to sudden changes in the environment and so social situations can be stressful if they’re too outside of your comfort zone. I find it much easier to be myself one-on-one now and treat parties as a way to fish for one on one conversations. But that’s just me. Do what you like and be the person you want to be!
I cant agree more, this is so true to me. But with the nature of my job, I have to deal with a lot of people, so I have to get used to it. Thank for sharing your thoughts. @whatamidoing
