I was talking to an uncle of mine this morning, and he told me he wanted to call a meeting between in his family in order to apportion his wealth to his sons.
This got me thinking because, this uncle if mine gave birth to six (6) children if which the first four were girls and the Two boys were 16 and 4 respectively
out of curiosity, I asked him why his daughters were not going to inherit anything. He told me that from the time they were born (the daughters) he's provided for their every need
so now they are all grown up, he'll marry them off while his sons continue his legacy despite the fact that the second daughter is the most suitable person to continue the family business
My uncle didn't want the girls to get anything because he knew once the girls get. married, their last name changes. So he was more interested in the family name that the growth of the business.
Situations such as this are quite rampant in the average African family. Discrimination against women also occur in work places, where a women don't get promoted just because they are women.
I walked by two men discussing, and one of them said "a woman can never be the president of Nigeria " the men who have been ruling us since independence have not done a good job.
Isn't it time we try something new?
Why not give women a chance?
