Ulog - Message Portrayal Through Dance
The 8th Dance Festival was held on the 10th of June 2018 at the ADD Convention Center, Apalit, Pampanga. It was participated by members of Teatro Kristiano of the Members Church of God International (MCGI). This year's theme was Ecclesiastes 12:1.
Remember now thy Creator in the days of thy youth, while the evil days come not, nor the years draw nigh, when thou shalt say, I have no pleasure in them;
It was true that conveying messages was difficult in itself; how much more if it was through dance? There were 11 live presentations and three 3 video presentations submitted by members from far places such as Japan, Palawan, and Visayas. Each division's performance was unique, creative, and substantial. Each story they shared had lessons/realizations which viewers could uncover. Judges provided comments that were important in improving overall performances like the choice music, props, and even colors and costumes!
Of course, I attended the event to support my own division. Part of the competition was creating a poster and have people on Facebook react on it. Below is the official poster of Laguna Batangas Mindoro Romblon (LBMR) Division.
We witnessed a night of color and creativity. Some really awesome themes were those of Central Apalit which had robotic-like performers, the visually-delicious colors of National Capital Region (NCR), and the very white performance (idk what it's called!) of Rizal. They were all stupendous. LBMR performers' theme was that of a mime. Their dancers wore black and white outfits to be easily identified as mimes, and they also added the concept of silent movies. The story went like this - an old man dreamt of his youth where he remembered the choices he made. It simply means that during our younger days, while we remained strong, it was vital to spend each moment doing good things especially those which God ordered. To give a glimpse of what they looked like, here is a photo of their main characters.
It was evident that each year, performances were becoming better and better. We could not wait for next year's event! Although I was not able to participate due to a lot of things, I supported them by being present in the main event and showing them my love and support. Congratulations to everyone. We were all winners.
Praise him with the timbrel and dance: praise him with stringed instruments and organs.
