Why I Support Julian Assange and You Should Too

Last night I watched a biography of Julian Assange done by a corporate-controlled network. The exaggerations and outright falsehoods had me seeing red and confirmed I was making the right decision by supporting his plight.

I became even more convinced when I read the comments under the video:

"Julian Assange is a gift from God," read one.

"This documentary is obviously a cia [sic] hit piece. The propaganda is so easy to see now," read another.

I think there were about fifty positive comments for every negative one. I do believe, of the people who know what's happening to him, the vast majority are on his side.

Yet he is still trapped in the embassy without many of the rights some of the worst incarcerated criminals in the world have.

His imprisonment is also symbolic. As long as Julian Assange is in danger, so is our free speech and our safety to be free thinkers.

It's a crucial time, too, in the world of information. The internet is a powerful tool that was "given to us" (actually, people paid for its creation with tax dollars) to surveil us, we now know. Pioneers of this digital age entered the matrix and began gathering and spreading information at lightning speed around the world. WikiLeaks is one of those pioneers.

"If wars can be started by lies, peace can be started by truth." ~Julian Assange

Because of our innate desire to know the facts and to reject manipulation, corporate mainstream media lost the hearts of most of the populace.

They want to take those organs back and the internet, too.

Don't let them. There's no time for dilly-dallying. The same people spying on us are now trying to snatch away our rights. People are getting banned and erased from their platforms. It's the equivalent of burning books and imposing gag orders, only it's sneakier.

Speak up for freedom and truth by speaking up for Assange. Tell people about his situation. A good site for facts to educate people is justice4assange.com. Spread your support on the ground where you live and spread it worldwide on the internet. Do it on your own or do it with others.

If you're not sure what to do, you can get ideas by joining one of the many groups on the internet advocating for Assange. The one I'm involved in right now is Unity4J. Think of what your interests are and join the Discord group at unity4j.com/discord or check out the #Unity4J hashtag on social media.

You want to be on the right side of history. You want to be proud of your present actions in the future. Make sure you hang on to a keepsake of your work. When Julian Assange is freed, you can hold your head up high knowing that you played a part.

One last thing. People who support Assange come from all different backgrounds and that's the way it should be. He needs as many folks speaking up for him as possible. It doesn't matter your race, religion, or place on the political spectrum. This is about human rights and free speech, and those are things every good citizen can get behind.

I hope you believe this is a great cause for you. It's a great cause for me.

"Populations don't like wars. They have to be lied into it. That means we can be 'truthed' into peace. This is a great cause for hope." ~Julian Assange
