It was a lot of fun for me while it lasted :) would still be doing it now, but people had issues with me and it. Thus I stopped.

Well to sum it all up. When the posts started to make money the were people who decided that it was a bad thing as the featured posts inside were not nearly as much as the value on my post. They also said that I was using other peoples work to make money on my post, this was referring to the links and "lack of content" which I had inside the post. The real reason for all the issues was never really brought up, but it had something to do with jealousy.
In all honesty the hidden gems is a fantastic idea and it was where all the steemit guilds came from as well as the resteeming idea and many more minnow support projects :) So in the end it created a ripple effect.
donkeypong was they guy that really started it all with his "Spotlight" project.
Maybe people will be nicer this time around, just don't care what others say as many many more will love you for what you are doing, and that is what really matters.
