Dressing up for a Party- I hate Parties

People like partying hard, but I hate parties with passion, even though I come from a tribe in Africa that loves partying hard. I know I am stranger than fiction, not that I am anti-social but I have a phobia for crowd, among other things that creeps me out, too many people in a place gives me shivers hence going to concerts and carnivals are not exactly my things even though I have been compelled to go to some.

One very creepy thing that makes me go nuts is shopping for local clothing materials, I am never a fan of traditional dresses because I don’t like putting them on more than once and I hate washing them. Then, getting a smart and not-too-lazy and stubborn fashion designer to make it into that perfect design I want is another huge obstacle. Over the years, I have changed dress-makers over a thousand times for failed promises and not keeping to their end of bargains. Some do keep their end of the deal but ended up making nasty designers completely different from what you want which they charge exuberantly for without flinching.

Secondly, I hate going to places where I have to wait on people to serve me food or drinks because I didn’t wear general clothing everyone is putting on at the party or I look too odd to be in such a place. What I mean exactly is, I prefer not to go parties because I am disgusted by been selectively overlooked and bypassed because I am not a family member or a known face. Sadly, some down-to-earth stupid friends will invite you to their parties and leave you uncared for, imagine a friend who disappears at his or her party busy attending to other “very important things” than their friends sitting down on a table been gawked at and at times questioned by relatives- Who invited you to this party?!

African parties are not exactly like normal cocktail parties and maybe a barbeque party. Why? It could be to unnecessarily glamorous, noisy and extremely annoying. Seeing people gawking at each other, plus the blasting noise from local musicians and their fancy instruments and bands which at times are stupidly expensive. Some of these local artists charge amount that could book your return ticket flights to Steemfest III in Krackow, Poland!

But I don’t really bother much on the fees local artist charges to make lives miserable by some excruciating noise and the urge for people to dance. Not everyone likes dancing, not me or maybe there others like me too that hates moving their stiff bodies. Not that I couldn’t move my body, but I don’t have that zeal to shake my ass hard and do belly dancing in front of strangers. The only time I enjoy moving my bulky body is when I am at the gym or in motion, hustling in the city where I reside.

Parties are no go for me except someone close to me prompts me to be there, I have seen and met people who are party freaks; maybe they get a lot of their adrenalin pumped while doing so remains a mystery I really don’t want to delve into. I have managed to be in some couple of parties; I was at once since yesterday and just got back home which also resulted in my Ulog ranting today. To me, some parties are just waste of time and precious resources, while some are pretty interesting place to be.

The kind of party I try to stay away from is a burial party. In West Africa, when golden aged people dies, there is a wild party been thrown by the children and Grandchildren or Great Grandchildren and the case may be. It is so disgusting to know and state that, people go to the extent of getting loans to fund these parties just to flaunt their myopic and idiotic approach to life.

It is interesting to state that, most of the demised old folks might have suffered in the last decades of their lives, some lived in extreme poverty and yet when they die their surviving families ends up spending millions on someone who they all never spend a cent on while breathing. These factors combined Cikes me out when I get invited to a party, my first question would be if it is a Wedding party or a Burial ceremony. Most of the time I ended up not attending to save myself the stress of grudges against whoever invites me or the families throwing the party.

There many out there like me, stranger than fictions like myself that hates going to parties, take my advice; hold the fort and avoid as much parties as possible or you get back home sulking and regretting wasting a huge chunk of your weekend over some crazy party!
