Walk of Hope : Nutrition Month's Slogan Contest in Bayawan today, July 26th 2018
Ongoing right now is a Slogan Contest in Bayawan High School in Negros Oriental, where kuya Marlon aka @flabbergast-art is one of the judges today. BAYAWAN being a pioneer and called the Health City, that is quite a reputation unknown for the majority in the Philippines.
It was intriguing to hear last April from kuya Marlon that in Bayawan, there is a community there that is vegan. For a Filipino who have been living abroad these past few years, that was unheard of.
Is there any other vegetarian communities elsewhere in the Philippines?
How health-conscious have we become these past few years? It's only very recently that we have seen malunggay (moringa) bread from bakeries, vegan cakes, fruits and veggie smoothies, among other stuff. This is great to see, but compared from abroad, the number is quite less. But it's a start.

"I don't think so", you might say?
On my arrival at #tataydagsa's in June, the first CREATIVE I met was kuya Ritchie, a vegetarian whose living according to his advocacy, including his family. Anyone remembered my previous posting about coco ciders? NO? His family is making them and now has made it their business in Bayawan.

The family that's behind DAWANI
I was asking for a coco cider, what I got was the juice. Only to be told that this bottle's content will turn to cider after 3 months. Well, they fed me full breakfast so I needed a drink and can't take it home to wait for 3 months!
You can buy this for a dollar. Accordingly, most costumers are the health-conscious professionals and athletes in town. This drink is not massly commercialised as there were only 2 medium-sized containers where they ferment them. They've run out of ciders, hence the juice! This drink is under par compared to those healthy drinks I've had in UK.
