#ulog no.7 The Poor Local Farmer in My Village

in #ulog6 years ago

Wait a minute! You eat food every day, don't you? I would like to ask if you know who produced the food.

Today I started off my day with a trip my village (Kaura, Kaduna State Nigeria) in West Africa and this caught my attention: The local farmers who work all day to put food on the table.

It's funny though that many people in West African cities do not even know where and how the food they eat is gotten. But the amazing reality is that someone must have gone to the farm to feed even those in cities.

As I interacted with some of the farmers today, it's amazing that they spend 10 to 12 hours everyday in the farm working for food. They may look dirty, but for a fact they are clean. When I asked them about challenges, they complained about climate change, then I introduced them to the concept of "climate Smart Agriculture". It's all about beating the climate to better your yield.

Despite all challenges, the local farmer is indeed a hero and is proud of his job.
